BAY AREA TOROS PRO BASEBALL

Bay Area Toros lefthander Brandon Sisk,

signed by Kansas City Royals organization

March 22, 2008 – Texas City – The Bay Area Toros Professional Baseball Club of the Continental Baseball League, announced today the signing of left-handed pitcher, Brandon Sisk of Elkhart, Texas to a contract with the Kansas City Royals organization.  The Toros worked hand in hand with several Major League teams to bring Sisk, a second year player for the club, to the forefront of their team and move him to the next level.

Sisk, a lefthander from Azusa Pacific University in California, was the Toros leading starter with an earned run average below 1.50 and a strong resume of three pitches, impressed scouts during his last start on Thursday night in Texas City.  The Kansas City Royals, represented by scout Steve Gossett, came to terms with Sisk on July 4th and the lefthander had his “independence” from the Toros.

“We could not be happier for Brandon,” said Toros General Manager Mike Pede.  “He has worked so hard in the off season and then coming into his first four or five starts that we could all tell that he deserved his shot.  Jim (Bolt, Toros Manager) and I worked every phone line we had to get scouts to come take a look at Brandon and convince them that he needed to be at the next level,”  Pede continued, “and finally the Royals stepped up yesterday.  I have never been happier to release a player from our club.”

The Toros, who traded relief pitcher Ryne Nelson to the El Paso Diablos of the American Association on Tuesday, are the first team in the Continental Baseball League to send a player to a Major League organization this year.  The Toros now have two players moved to higher level programs and are a leader in the CBL in getting deserving players to the next level.

The Toros, currently in first place in the second half of the CBL season and tied for first place overall on the 2008 season, continue their three game series at Corpus Christi this evening in Robstown, Tx.
